If you watched the Seahawks’ Chris Carson on the field, you know he ran hard, dishing it out as well as he took it.

If you watched him train on IG, you saw how much effort he put into strengthening his body in preparation for the season.

That’s why it’s so hard to hear that health issues have forced Carson to retire.

After five injury-riddled seasons, the 27-year-old running back was unable to heal from a lingering neck injury, so he’s calling it quits.

Seattle will release the former 1,000 yard rusher with a “failed physical designation.” That, fortunately, allows him to receive injury protection benefits, so Seattle did the right thing for their former running back.

It’s a tough end to his career, but it wasn’t totally unexpected as Carson missed all but four games in 2021.

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll hinted that this decision might happen last season after Carson, a seventh-round selection out of Oklahoma State, had vertebrae-fusion surgery this past December.
