In this clip, Amber Cabral joins Karen Hunter to discuss the nationwide boycott of retail giant Target, which rolled back their longtime diversity policies after bowing to pressure from Republican President Donald Trump.

The response to Target’s rollback was immediate. Consumers took to social media to call for a sustained boycott of the store. Q1 comparable sales plunged by nearly 4%, and market cap took a $12.4 billion hit, while CEO Brian Cornell admitted, “We’re not satisfied with these results.”

Even though the battle cries have died down, Target is still scrambling to return to its former glory as the allure of the store has dwindled in the eyes of the public.

While both Cabral and Hunter agree that Target was not the most egregious offender, the bigger picture needs to be the focus, and that the collateral damage was worth the message.

Celebrating US from one end of the land to the other. We record our acts, our accomplishments, our sufferings, and our temporary defeats throughout the diaspora. We bring content that is both unique and focused on showing the world our best. Unapologetically.
