The Weekend Entertainment Recap: July 10

It’s not typically a surprise to see Keke Palmer make the blogs for some funny comment she may have made or to promote a new movie rule, but this weekend the child star made headlines after being called out by the father of her child. A video of the multi-talented star began to circulate of her enjoying herself while attending Usher’s residency in Las Vegas. The father of her child, Darius Jackson, did not seem to approve of her choice of outfit so he tweeted, “It’s the outfit tho .. you a mom.” Jackson instantly became a target for social media commentators, which led him to remove himself from the app temporarily. In true Keke Palmer fashion, she did not turn the situation into an all-out war. Instead, she decided to cash in on the moment.

Palmer announced that she has some new merch available with phrases that include “IM A MOTHA” and “Stevie to the bullsh-t.”

Another couple that may be signaling trouble in paradise is none other than R&B singer Summer Walker and “BMF” star Lil Meech. Summer Walker’s track record with men is less than stellar and Meech appears to be following in the path of the men before him. Now screenshots from another woman who claimed to be pregnant with Meech’s baby have begun to make their rounds. The screenshots of the woman, who is a model named Tiffany Fadhel, confronting Summer Walker with news of the pregnancy garnered much media attention. However, things settled down once the women in question announced the information was fake.

Fortunately for Lil Meech, he is cleared this time as Fadhel cleared him of the allegations, but with his track record, it may not be long before new claims surface.

This weekend was not solely consumed with relationship drama. Track stars Shericka Jackson and Sha’Carri Richardson made their mark on the 2023 Jamaican National Championship. Richardson won the US 100-meter title on Friday and Jackson has earned herself a seat amongst the fastest women of all time. Jackson ran a world-leading 10.65 seconds in Saturday’s 100 meters race.

The record-tying time put Jackson in a position to be fifth on the all-time list – a spot she shares with Florence Griffith-Joyner’s 35-year-old world record. Jackson is currently a five-time Olympic medalist.

It was also announced this weekend that comedian Kevin Hart is partnering with BET to revive the standup comedy series, ComicView. The relaunch is part of the comedian’s Hartbeat Weekend in Las Vegas. After a nine-year hiatus, the all-new episodes will be hosted by the legendary Mike Epps and taped in front of a live audience from July 6-9. Fans can expect performances from talents such as Tommy Davidson, Bresha Webb and D.C. Young Fly. The world will even be able to witness the televised comedic debut of rapper and actor T.I.

Multi-talented star, Jamie Foxx, was spotted out for the first time amidst his undisclosed medical scare. TMZ captured footage of Foxx cruising down the Chicago River on a yacht Sunday afternoon. The performer even waved at the paparazzi as the video was being shot. Foxx was admitted to an Atlanta hospital in April after suffering a “medical complication,” later confirmed by his daughter on social media. At the time of his hospitalization, Foxx was working on a Netflix project titled “Back in Action.”
