Sad news arrived late Thursday night when it was announced that former Denver Broncos star receiver, Demaryius Thomas, had passed away.
He was 33 years old.
Thomas was drafted 22nd overall by the Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft, and the Georgia Tech product became one of the greatest receivers in team history.
In his eight-year career in Denver, he hauled in 665 receptions for 9,0554 yards and 60 TDs. That’s more than their Ring of Honor honoree and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Shannon Sharpe, and places him in second behind another Broncos great, Rod Smith.
Thomas was a 4x All-Pro receiver who became the favorite target of Peyton Manning during the team’s Super Bowl runs, finally helping them win it all at Super Bowl 50 in 2016. That magical season he amassed 1,304 yards and 6 TDs on 105 receptions.
He was traded to the Texans in 2018 and played one final season in 2019 with the Jets before retiring.
“The NFL family mourns the tragic loss of Demaryius Thomas and we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones,” said the NFL in a statement.
